A glowing desk sign lit from behind by a COB LED strip. The front prints face-down in two colours — an opaque face with light-diffusing letters inlaid — and press-fits into a hollow body that hides the LED and cable.

Printing tips

  • Front: prints face-down; face in an opaque colour, letters in white or natural PLA so light shines through.
  • Body: prints open side up, no supports. Stick a COB LED strip (5 V USB works well) to the inside of the back.
  • Body and front share a colour by default, so the 3MF needs just two filaments; pick a different front colour to make it three.
  • Use about 15% infill. If the front is loose, lower the press-fit tolerance; if it won't go in, raise it.
